Founded in 2023 by screenwriter Peter Harness and director Ragna Wei, Haunted Barn is a writer-led production company based in the UK and Sweden, crafting original and compelling stories for film and television.
At Haunted Barn, we champion bold ideas and emerging creatives, bringing each project to life through a streamlined, synergetic development process. Our mission is to make the journey from development to production as inspiring and rewarding as possible.
We take a bespoke approach, tailoring our process to suit each story. But at the heart of everything we do is a process of collaboration and a commitment to empowering and mentoring writers and creatives: ensuring that the communication between the creative and their collaborators - writers, producers and broadcasters - is as direct, constructive and open as possible.
Outside of our original projects, we also offer a 'consulting showrunner' service, providing hands-on guidance and mentorship to fellow writers working on external projects: giving them the extra push and support they might need to get to green light.
Whether shaping a script, refining a vision, or navigating the complexities of production, we're here to help bring great stories to the screen.
Whether we're developing original ideas or working with existing IP, we seek out projects with the potential to inspire and captivate audiences. We match projects to broadcasters as early as possible, bringing channels and commissioners in on the process.
Every project is unique, so we bring together a bespoke mix of writers and creatives to shape each story. We match creatives with a proven track record with writers who are new to screenwriting, or at an early stage in their career, building a collaboration of different talents and energies.
Our development process is fast, dynamic, and collaborative. We workshop ideas in the story rooms - either virtually or in person at our creative hub in the Swedish countryside - where writers can explore, experiment and refine their vision in a supportive environment. We then bring this work back to the broadcaster and move on to the next stage...
